Yesterday at the Paris Fashion Week Spring 2015 shows we saw Lanvin celebrate its 125th anniversary as well as a front row Kimye appearance at Balmain as the duo came to watch Kendall strut down the runway in Olivier Rousteing’s sexy Rihanna-inspired designs. Outside the shows our favourite street style stars were no less impressive. As the weather cooled off this week, the sartorial tone delved further into fall with oversized sweaters, coats and boots in bold prints and rich shades of burgundy and forest green. Nailing the 60s mod trend from the Fall 2014 runways, we saw Miroslava Duma sporting a bold printed coat with burgundy suede boots, while our favourite eccentric, Anna Dello Russo rocked a mini (of course) geometric print fringe dress. Another noticeable trend was the monochromatic ensemble demonstrated by the likes of Olivia Palermo, who wore a wine-coloured turtleneck and skirt, as well as Veronika Heilbrunner in head-to-toe dusty rose and Michelle Elie wearing all white. One of our favourite trends spotted outside the shows was the recurring sneaker (because, why not be comfortable and hella cool at the same time?) spotted on Shala Monroque who paired her neon kicks with a black patent leather jacket and model JiHye Park who rocked metallic sneakers with a matching structured jacket and skirt.

Last week at Art Basel we saw droves of artists, primed and polished and all dressed up—at talks, on panels, even gracefully walking a step-and-repeat—but when it comes to true style, there’s nothing quite as cool as well-worn studio clothes. After all, what makes a great artist is the work, and what does the work make? Well, in the case of eighties Pop artist Keith Haring—shown here painting a backdrop for the Palladium club in 1985—that would be the perfect pair of painted jeans. In this relatively sleek era of high art, it’s important to remember to embrace a little slop or splatter from the creative process. We love Haring’s uniform: pants and sneakers covered in paint, and worn with a fresh white tee. While you can easily find plenty of denim pre-splattered options (we love versions by Philipp Plein and Rag & Bone, both of which have the starry effect of white paint on a deep indigo denim), we also encourage you to make like Keith Haring and make your own. Repaint your bedroom, dash some color on a set of succulent planters, or try your hand at a canvas. And when you’ve got your drips in place, wear your painted pants out. We imagine Haring showed up in his to the Palladium that night, all the more reason why he’s our menswear style crush this week.
